Imagine if you could live each day fully immersed in a veil of protective fragrance instead of walking around merely coping... It is completely possible & very simple if we had a tool to lean on to help regulate our emotional states.


And there is just such a mindful way to envelop yourself in an elevated energetic state where reactive emotions are diminished & we take back our personal power.


I'm talking about our theme & the topics for this month - "Aromatherapy, Essential Oils & Personal Blends for Self-healing"

So, how d we use Essential Oils in a mindful way to address our needs & to help us elevate our self-healing processed & enhance the mastery journey we are on?

First off, we are going to only take a look at my Top 10 Essential Oils as covered in this month’s theme inside the Self-Mastery Membership. With our theme “Aromatherapy, Essential Oils & Personal Blends” we look at how to regulate our emotional triggers, find balance in our daily activities & how to add the Top 10 Essential Oils in a beautiful, yet affordable practice as we collect them from various places.


You may be wondering how Essential Oils fit into our Mindful Practices? And the answer is simple, we can use it in our environment to inhale, we could apply it as a lotion to be absorbed into the skin or we could create a relaxing bath with a few drops added to salt. Having a natural tool like Aromatherapy with such abilities is especially helpful in grounding our emotions in challenging times or when we encounter moments of personal distress.

Did you know that essential oils can help reframe our emotional responses?


When we inhale an Essential Oil like Lavender, we actively engage the olfactory system, which is directly linked to the limbic brain—the center of emotion & our memories. This interaction allows for an almost immediate shift in mood.

When feelings of unease or imbalance emerge, we can use an Essential Oils like Bergamot for it's uplifting support or Cedarwood for deep grounding when our thoughts create reactive patterns.


By incorporating Essential Oils into our daily routines, we are giving our bodies time to detoxify from all the damaging chemicals & give ourselves time to pause, breathe in the goodness of nature, and process our feelings before we react to the external environment.



When it comes to addressing old wounds, we face triggers all the time. And Essential Oils can come to the rescue once again as they become a natural, yet gentle companion to our inner work & building our creative practices.


For instance, if we notice feelings of anxiety or defensiveness appear, we can start by diffusing an Essential Oils like Sweet Orange as it offers an immediate uplifting effect that aligns us with fond memories of joy & guide our thoughts into a place of happiness.


It is important to reflect on each Essential Oils as it supports each of us in beautiful ways. This reflection period can be anything from sitting Mindfully to clear out the mental chatter or it can be a full-on Creative Practice where you capture the memories each fragrance brings you. It is so easy to enjoy these little miracles as we pursue our creativity with some mindfulness to elevate our wellbeing.

It also means that how we react to it is a direct consequence of building the crust around that wound. As it hardens, your heart also hardens to the beauty you could be experiencing. For some it may seem trivial that something so small could cause such a devastating effect on our lives even in adulthood, but the facts are clear. If you don’t feel it, you won’t be able to heal it! And as far as healing goes, we can look at a variety of things we discuss in the Self-Mastery Membership.


For example, the lesson on “Healing the Inner Child” is helpful in solving childhood trauma & through the creative processes we go over you’ll have the foundations to solve these painful things as you notice each of them pop up from time-to-time. Don’t let the scars become the ruler by which everything is measured as you try to live amongst it, find a solution through creativity & healing in a mindful way.

Essential oils are known as the little miracle workers in nature. The way they interact with the human mind as we inhale or absorb their essences is a true wonder of nature & to better understand their functions, we need to look at how they effectively contribute to our healing.


As we perceive them through our sense of smell, they stimulate the olfactory system through their volatile molecules. A gland in our nasal cavity detects the aroma by means of the millions of sensory neurons who have little fingerlings (cilia) that capture air-born scent molecules. The scents perceived are then sent as a signal to the cortex through the limbic system where it activates rain activity related to emotions & our memories. This aromatic blueprint is then stored in the hypothalamus, where it further influences the body’s homeostasis & reactions to certain smells.


Because essential oils quickly saturate the olfactory bulb, their effects on the human moods & emotions are often fast-acting as they float directly into our systems where they trigger not only our emotions & memories, but also associates beneficial healing imprints on a cellular level either to stimulate, calm or tantalize our senses so that we instantly produce a wide array of sensations in the human body.

Lighter essential oils like citrus absorb faster than heavier ones, while the different types of carriers used will result in a calming & soothing action the skin will be receptive to. Keep in mind that Essential Oils are not a substitute for any medical treatments, but can aid in managing symptoms like irritation, digestive issues, stress, memory & respiration, to mention a few.
