Mindfulness Can Start in Your Garden: It's Right There Waiting for You

Writer's picture: Tanya{ADMIN}Tanya{ADMIN}

Living Mindfully isn't just about the conscious moments taken in, the slow living, the natural rhythms of life, the little moments of consciousness or the mindfulness practices we partake in, but it also drives the act of taking in life. Noticing moments between the business of work, obligations, promises & what we aspire to become takes time.

And becoming clear on how to balance it all in harmony with what we really want; joy & happiness... means we need to clear away clutter, remove the broken pieces, brush away the dust & make space for what's to come.

Ridding yourself of the old things brings clarity as there's no room for anything fresh & exciting to take root, blossom or grow if it is already occupied by the remnants of the past.

Mindful Moments in the Garden Logo

Today we are in the smallest little garden spot in our back yard where my morning practices started. A cozy little place surrounded by the bare necessities, gifted items & a few chosen plants to get a little garden area going.

To be able to Blossom & Grow this year you'll need to:

  • Make space for your dreams

  • Remove things that no longer create joy in your heart

  • Make that move into unfamiliar territory

  • Stretch your boundaries to reach for the things you want

You'll also need to prioritize & elevate your wellness! To do this we've updated some resources & added a file-share page to the website to help you become your best version.

And if you feel ready to make that change, take charge of your life & level up, now is the time to go for it but make sure you leave some time for your mindful creative practices, not neglect your desire to create & help yourself to a bit of right brain activity & vitamin D!

Follow along as you journey with us this year. Find your reason to Blossom & Grow while nourishing yourself with a few new things available in the Open Studio Sessions!

"You won't have to reinvent yourself, you'll simply need to find your stride again. Why? Because the big dream didn't die in your heart, it's just been still in your mind!"

When I first painted the Golden Yellow Rose for our membership cover image & logo, I had no idea that a fragrant yellow rose was coming to life, but I knew it was out there, waiting for me to discover it. Every week the garden shops would get in new stock & none of the roses were fragrant enough or drew my attention quite like the one I discovered last week!

Lady of Australia is a unique floribunda rose with a classic yellow bloom with ruffled petals that fade into a pale cream. If I were a bee, I would dart right over to the revealingly golden stamens to coat myself in pollen as I gather heaps of it going from one flower to the next.

I've seen Ice-berg's do this thing where they bloom non-stop for month's on end as I prune & deadhead throughout the growing season, and this Rose is looking like a great producer of multiple buds as they keep on coming out. Since Sunday when I planted her, we've noticed at least 8 new buds & it's only Friday today.

And did I mention that she is a fragrance showstopper as I smell her as I come down the rugged garden path every morning... Husky joins me in the garden every second she sees me. I've observed her watching me closely as she's been waiting patiently for me to make up my mind & get going with my plans! For these plans are huge but even I need to take it slow in the beginning as we don't have all the resources to go big this very minute... But we can start & so can you!

James Cromwell once said that "Pets are humanizing. They remind us we have an obligation and responsibility to preserve and nurture and care for all life." Finding Husky waiting to play with me as she jumps out from behind the temporary pot I washed for her from last weeks video & discover the simple little mindful things you can do with little offcuts from the garden to bring you more joy...

For the first one we add little offcuts to small vases & place them throughout the house. We also play with Husky the Studio Muse to entertain a bit of laughter... and my best kept secret is that I create designs straight from my sketchbooks after all the inspiration gathered from gardens!

Available NOW >>> Watch the video below, it is last weeks video about these mindful practices, playful reflection times & ways to nurture yourself into growth.

I'll add more information about the Rose below today's post. But for now, let's get back to the story of how a Golden Rose became our much loved favourite for the membership!

Download the resources below to remind yourself that you can develop your dream as you leap forward this year. Not to go too far, too hard or tooo long, but to make sure you do something that feels like growth in a beautiful direction meant for you... Like we did by writing small step on the lines inside the Floral Birthday Calendar to mark certain milestones we wanted to reach. Literally giving us a roadmap to go from where we are right now to where we want to go next.

Mindful moments in a garden can be the best therapy date you have with yourself as garden therapy, fresh air, vitamin-D & a mindful practice like this is the perfect meditative, creative thing you can do if you are feeling a little deflated.

Connecting with nature is the perfect stress reliever & having living things like plants & picked flowers throughout your home will fell like you brought the garden inside, minus all the bugs! Gardening as self-care nurtures the mind to get rid of all the "fulness & buzz" we sometimes feel when it is hard to relax. Slow, mindful moments in a garden environments therefore becomes something useful, helpful & educational as you open your mind up to learn so much about yourself, your environment & the beauty that was placed in our care by the Creator of these natural gifts.

No matter what you are getting up to, learning, creating, making or discovering for the very first time - make sure it feels like it is inspiring you to Blossom & Grow this year!

Share your thoughts on a little mindful garden path idea to help make a small shaded area come alive. I want to create a space where I can find my thoughts while sitting outdoors...

Much Love

💛 Notes About the Lady of Australia Rose "Brunlady"

Bred by Bruce Brundrett who named his creations to celebrate the wives of the Governors-General of Australia. It reaches a comfortable size, at a height of 120cm x a width of 100cm

This rose received many awards at the National Rose Trial Garden in 2018:

  • A Gold Medal

  • A Trophy for Best Rose of the Trial

  • Named Best Floribunda Rose

  • Most Pest & Disease Tolerant Rose of the Trial which was huge

  • And it was the best Australian Bred Rose of the Year (2018) I only found it in 2022 when I remade the logo & designs for the new look for the Self-Mastery Membership for Creatives

My favourite place to shop online for roses around here is on the online shop for a Rose Farm called Silkies https://rosesalesonline.com.au/
